The heart of the Silk Road
The ancient network of trade called the Silk road had its heart in what is today called the ‘Stans’ area.
Independent countries today conquered in the past by all the main Empires and strongest conquerors we know. Fertile lands, acute minds, geographical dream spot’, this area had it all. Nowadays the result of its dramatic and rich past is in front of our eyes: The unique hospitality of folk who used to deal with foreigners for centuries, the freshest and most delicious products of the earth, the most beautiful and richest art techniques passed from generation to generation.
Central Asia is a land of beauty, elegance and richness in its every aspect.
The remote mountains of Kyrgyzstan for skiing in winter and trekking in summer, the shreds of evidence of the past richness of Bukhara and Samarkand with its blue domes, the endless deserts of Turkmenistan and its gold and marble capital…. I spent two years back and forwards these beautiful countries and I can’t get tired of seeing the same colorful tiles, the smiles of that cafe owner who remembers my name, the golden sunsets in the desert and freezing nights in green valleys watching the 7000 meters high mountains turn into pink and orange.
